Hello Friend!
Welcome to the second week of the Master Bedroom Reinvention One Room Challenge!
Background image is by Michalsky Wallpaper
Things have been busy here 🙂 running between the wallpaper-paint-lighting stores and trying to stay on top of everything including budget. So here is our update for the second week:
- paint – check. We have decided to paint the walls with the Ice Age grey (Cloverdale) paint. Most of our house is painted with it and we really love its soft and warm look! This will soften a drama look that we are going for with the feature wall.
- wallpaper – this one is not easy to decide on! We looked at so many samples at the wallpaper store, but once we bring them home and set them up with what we have and what we are planning for the room, they do not want to “play the game”. At this moment we are debating over two possible options, both are geometrical pattern black and grey. One of them is featured in this picture:
- lighting – the same problem as with the wallpaper. We had looked online, and went to see a few lighting stores in the area, but are still trying to find the right fixtures for our design. We will be going to a few other places this weekend and hope to have more luck then. Stay tuned! 🙂
So, here is what our plan looks like for now
We are trying to create a balance between a drama and a very calming atmosphere, and our colours of choice will be dark grey, soft grey, with little touches of mauve. We are keeping our side tables and the bed. They are a natural wood finishing with white drawers, and wood adds some warmth to the room.
Once we are more close on the wallpaper for the feature wall and order it, the delivery is within 2 to 3 weeks. Same is with the lighting fixtures.
My husband will be finishing the closet doors’ mouldings this week. We have added the mouldings months ago, but it is still waiting for some patching and paint 🙂
I will start working on our new headboard this weekend. We were first thinking about making a headboard out of the reclaimed wood pallets, but at the end, I decided that I wanted to create a more luxurious look. So I will be making a soft, silver-gray headboard to contrast with the dark feature wall.
That’s all for now 🙂
I am so looking forward to a 4-day weekend! Are you busy painting eggs or walls, or both? 🙂
Hope to see you all next week!
Hugs,
Nat
