Welcome to the Week 4 Of the One Room Challenge!

It is funny as I was typing the sentence above and had entered ‘Welcome to Week 3’ first. Then I caught myself at “oh, it is a week 4 already!” Can you believe it? It is crazy how time is flying! We are now officially entering the second half of the One Room Challenge. Have you checked all other amazing ORC projects yet? Click on the logo below to be taken to the page 🙂

In the meantime, we also have a few things to report on. It is amazing how all the small changes in the room completely transform its look. As you could see in our last week update, we have painted the walls and the room looks more mature (can you use this word to describe a room? :)). I liked the light and sunny yellow colour we had on the walls before too, but now gray blends really nicely all together.

Now to the most interesting part:

We have applied the wallpaper to the feature wall.

With wallpaper, I guess it is either you love it or hate it. I have seen many projects where it did create that ‘Wow’ effect in the room, and a few that were not that great. As you can guess, I really hope to get that ‘Wow’ moment in our bedroom.

But I had to convince my husband

He is not a huge wallpaper fan, to say the least. He was really skeptical about the idea, but he is a good husband (well, actually, the best). He is very supportive and trusts my “instincts” 🙂 Well, I guess in his mind it was more like “I will do that, and the worst case scenario, we will just take it down”. Hehe.

Anyway, we had to prepare the walls really well before we could apply wallpaper, as they all looked like someone was playing darts there. You can see the wall prep and installation process in the short video below.

As you can see, Alan was helping too! (it is crazy how little kids like to help their parent and try new things until they become teenagers. That is what had happened to us with our older son – he was a perfect child until he turned 13. Has it only happened to us? He is now 20 and getting better though 🙂 Phew)

Anyway, since it is paintable wallpaper, we still need to paint it. We will be working on that this coming weekend.

We have also received our lighting pendants!

As you probably remember we have ordered two lighting pendants online, and one of them has now been installed by our friend electrician. I ordered two as I was not sure which one I liked more. They both look great, but for our design, we have decided to go with the bigger one. Patience please 🙂 I will be sharing the pictures and links soon!

The following is still on the to-do list:

  • paint the wallpaper;
  • order and install the ceiling lighting fixture;
  • make a headboard;
  • decorate!

I have to share something else with you! I was so heavenly thrilled to find my blog featured on Alana’s Prairie Home Therapy blog as part of her review of the fellow Canadians participating in the One Room Challenge! It is so exciting to see so many wonderful bloggers working on the same challenge and to get noticed by them. Especially for such a rookie as I am 🙂

Thank you, Alana!

In case you missed it: Week 1 | Week 2 | Week 3

Have you used wallpaper in your projects? What do you think? Please comment and share 🙂

Hugs,

Nat
